Visit to Poland

On Saturday night my hubby went away for 9 days to Poland. He is getting a great big dose of holocaust over there – visiting Ghettoes, concentration camps and the worst – Death camps.
It is overwhelming – so many died over there, it is just incomprehensible.
I wanted to join him but it’s a military delegation and the wives are not allowed – But now after 4 days of phone calls between us I understand that a visit like this is just not for me.
I saw so many holocaust movies and documentaries in my life, and I have from them so much information and pictures and stories, so being there, where people were actually slaughtered just for being Jews would be too much for me. I get so emotional just from hearing where my hubby visited and my eyes get all teary and wet – to be there would mean sobbing for the whole 10 days.

One of the most horrifying thought I have had in the past 3 days is – how could these people survive in the cold winter of Europe with those grey striped thin clothes they wore on their skinny bodies?

Hubby and I haven’t parted for 10 days since 1991 – and that is not easy for us, but I am proud of him and of this delegation and I think it is so important to remember the holocaust and all of the millions who were killed because of racism.

So, I couldn’t let him leave with out pictures of us so I created a mini digiscrap album, laminated and held together on a key ring. He was so happy to receive it and he says it makes him smile and warms his heart over there in cold Poland. (It is snowing and sooooo cold).
